Office for the Southern Suburbs

The Hon. Tony Piccolo MP, Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion, welcomes you to the Southern Suburbs.

The Office for the Southern Suburbs is part of the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion. Its primary objective is to coordinate initiatives relating to the economic development and growth of the Southern Adelaide region, across the three levels of Government.

This includes supporting an integrated approach to economic, social and environmental priorities, encouraging partnerships between organisations and providing a whole of government focus.

Southern Adelaide includes the cities of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham and Onkaparinga.

OSS mapThe Southern Adelaide region is currently experiencing massive infrastructure development, including the Adelaide Desalination Plant, extension of the railway line to Seaford and upgrade and electrification of the line, the duplication of the Southern Expressway, and grade-separation of the McLaren Vale/Victor Harbour intersection.  The redevelopment of Tonsley Park will provide significant opportunities for advanced manufacturing and skills development, consistent with Southern Adelaide’s economic direction.  The former Port Stanvac oil refinery is being demolished, which eventually will free up the site for future development.

From rolling hills and the vines to the sea, Southern Adelaide offers an unmatched lifestyle.
